We have found using the bikes has increased the intensity of input/ the amount of exercise that our patients get as part of their in-patient rehabilitation programme.

We are able to use our Physiotherapy Technicians to deliver an additional sessions each day for appropriate patients to use the bikes. We have also taught members of the nursing and health care support worker team and family and friends to support patients to use the bikes at evenings and weekends.

We have been impressed with the level of customer service you have provided and the quality of the bikes. They are easy to set up and use. Having the option to use the games increases motivation in some of our patients. We also like the fact the display screen is large and in colour meaning our patients can easily see the screen. I would definitely recommend these bikes to other people.

I first heard of the Thera exercise machine for the less able while I was in France at a Clinic, I was exercising using the Thera Fit plus where I was shown how to use it by a physiotherapist. My feet were strapped in and the machine turned on. WOW, I was so impressed, this machine moved my legs as if I was doing it myself, it has different speeds and different tensions, so the machine just works your legs at whatever speed you set it at, or next to no tension so you can actively try and pedal yourself.

When I see the improvement I have made over the weeks and months it keeps me going back for more.

Pauls Story - Thera TrainerWhen faced with life following a spinal injury I knew I would have challenges and struggles along the way, to maintain my fitness, strength and moral.

I was determined to include exercise in my daily routine, so the idea of buying the THERA-Trainer was mainly to improve my muscle strength and cardiovascular activity. Little did I know it would do so much more!

I use the bike for 30 minutes every morning and have noticed a continual improvement in my muscle power; even my blood pressure has dropped and bladder function has improved to the point that my medication has been reduced. My doctor was very impressed at my last check-up.

I have purchased this equipment solely for my own use in order to reduce and minimise the need for and cost of visits to my private physiotherapist and to hold the deterioration in my stamina and muscle function and degeneration, and improve my circulation.

To all the guys at Medicotech

Thank you so very much for the trouble you took to get the part for our son’s exercise bike out to us (in the middle of rural France) so promptly and without fuss. It was very kind and efficient. How nice to know that the after sales service is as good as the product.

It is my observation that my son, who has sever spastic quadriplegia, is helped immeasurably by daily and prolonged use of the THERA-Trainer. First – and most importantly – his painful spasms are reduced by almost 100%. In the past, his panicky reactions to the onset of a spasm convinced carers that he must be epileptic!

His reduced tone means that he can perform other functions (eating, drinking, communicating, moving his arm voluntarily) more easily. His feet feel less cold. His bowel function has greatly improved. All in all, it has made more difference than any physiotherapy sessions. We have set up a corner where he has his own music and he really enjoys his therapy.

With thanks again for saving our holiday

Here was a beautifully sleek and simple piece of equipment that I could use entirely on my own.

I first came across Medicotech at the Kemble Mobility Roadshow where I spotted a piece of equipment I instantly knew I had to have: the THERA-Trainer. Following a spinal injury, rehab and physiotherapy have been part of my life for 20 years. Here was a beautifully sleek and simple piece of equipment that I could use entirely on my own, exercising passively if I felt tired or actively if I wanted a good work-out. Moreover it had calf supports to steady the knees and flexible, rocking footplates that gently worked the feet as you pedalled. Minimal fuss in the monitor display unit - I don't need to see landscapes passing me by, I prefer to listen to music, watch television or learn a language as I pedal away.

Dear all at Medicotech.

I will be happy to speak to any potential users, if you need it.

“I was still completely immobilized after a 3-month stay in the rehabilitation clinic. I needed the help of two nurses for the transfer between my wheelchair and the bed. After six weeks of training with THERA-vital, my mobility increased significantly. Today, three months after my clinic stay, I no longer need a wheelchair. I can even accompany my wife on a shopping spree, something that my wife enjoys too!”

West Berkshire's unique community Therapy Centre has taken delivery of a third power-assisted full body exerciser, bought with the help of The Colefax Trust, Rotary Club of Hungerford, Medicotech and the Centre's grateful clients.

The Centre is at Clerewater Place, off Lower Way, Thatcham and opened in April this year, the opening hours having increased from 20 to 26 hours a week as the numbers of people with either slow moving muscles and joints or physical or sensory disabilities in need of help to take exercise continues to grow. All the equipment is power-assisted, providing gentle, repeated movement, with disabled users adding their own energy if they are able. The Centre's existing full body exercisers have interactive displays that help users to balance control of their legs, very important for safer walking. These machines are so heavily used it became essential for the Centre to acquire a third, identical machine, which was delivered this week.

The Centre runs on a not-for-profit basis and is supported by local voluntary groups including for MS, Parkinson's and Fibromyalgia, also helping a very wide range of disabling conditions including blind and partially sighted people and those recovering from strokes or surgery. The Centre is one of the Mayor of Thatcham's charities of the year and its main backers include West Berkshire Neurological Alliance, West Berkshire Public Health Department and the Gerald Palmer Eling Trust. The Centre takes either clinical or self-referrals and its staff and volunteers welcome calls from anyone who would like to make an appointment to tour the facilities and see first hand how the service can help disabled people to keep more mobile and safe.

“So much has changed since my stroke. We used to hike and cycle a lot and suddenly none of that was possible. THERA-live is a small compensation for all of this. My daughter-in-law had found the THERA-Trainer on the Internet and I have been using the device twice a day for three years. Sometimes less in summer because we go for a walk in good weather. My advice to everyone: never give up, always continue training. Practice, practice, practice! Everything might improve at some stage!”

Therapy Centre logoAt the Bedford MS Therapy Centre we have 3 Thera bikes linked to the new computer software. I run approximately 20 sessions per day on these bikes. The different activities have proved to be a great success, providing a greater learning experience (other than just plain cycling) and added a fun element to the sessions. The bikes have also had the backing and approval from our physiotherapists, who encourage our clients to use specific exercises according to their needs.
Although we do allow 2/3 clients to use the programmes together we do not tend to encourage the fact that they are competing with each other, with so many differences between clients it is not always a good idea, no client should compare their capabilities to another. It has certainly added extra enthusiasm to the gym sessions and the majority of clients take an interest in the graphs that are produced.
The helicopter gaming is the most popular, the cars and hedgehog programmes on the original software a close second. When clients are not having such a good day and the gaming becomes too much effort they are more than happy to sit and cycle the scenic routes, making their session more enjoyable and relaxed.
In summary, more variety of exercises rather than competition gaming is what best suits our clients’ needs. It has certainly made exercising more enjoyable and the results have been fantastic. There is, by far, a marked improvement in results for clients using the Thera bikes.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to use the software.

I first met the Medicotech team, at the Mobility Show at Kemble Bristol in June 09, where they had a display. I was aware of this type of equipment, having spent 10 months as an in patient at National Spinal Injuries Unit, Stoke Mandeville, following an accident in June 2007.

I use it for approx 15 mins every evening. My Physio has commented that there in a noticeable improvement in the function of my abdominal muscles - not quite a six pack yet but a considerable improvement in tone.
I'm sure that spending time just standing in the trainer is good to maintain bone density.

Just a note to say that we are very pleased with the THERA-fit and Elise is enjoying using it both with her feet and with her hands.

Jenny feels, as I do, that the exercise is very good for her in both modes, but the arm workout is an extra which we had been unable to simulate in any other effective way. This is an excellent product.

May I also thank you for the most excellent service you have provided in delivering, explaining and demonstrating the equipment, and for your advice on its effective use.

I purchased the THERA-vital after seeing Medicotech Ltd at the Naidex show in 2012. I am totally thrilled with it and it has made my legs and arms much stronger. Thank you very much.
